Our Principal, Kate McInnes, has endorsed In Our Own Right, a joint civil society statement on disability rights and disarmament that was delivered before the United Nations General Assembly First Committee on 17 October 2025.

In her words:

The experiences of countless wars, past and present, prove beyond doubt that persons with disabilities are disproportionately affected by armed conflict. As the statement powerfully argues, “these uniquely at-risk and valuable members of the human family deserve a voice, a seat at all the tables — and in all the Committees — where their fate is so often decided.” A resolution on disability, disarmament, and non-proliferation is urgently needed to advance inclusion, protection, and meaningful participation.
