International Human Rights and Justice
Defending dignity and pursuing justice — for you.

We are Canada’s first and only law firm practicing exclusively in international human rights law and international justice.
Arendt Chambers is Canada’s first and only law firm practicing exclusively in international human rights law and international justice. We advocate before United Nations treaty- and charter-based bodies, regional human rights systems, criminal courts and hybrid tribunals, and truth commissions, inquiries, and other justice mechanisms.
We are committed to upholding human dignity by providing rightsholders with exceptional legal representation. We approach every case with ingenuity, an unparalleled command of the law, and a dedication to ensuring that international rights mechanisms are accessible to all victims of rights abuses — no matter who they are, where they live, or what resources they have.
Arendt Chambers is driven by values and integrity, not profit. We offer significantly reduced, below-market legal fees for all individual clients. As a boutique firm with little overhead, we are proud to offer competitive fees for all other clientele, including human rights organisations and other law firms.
Kate McInnes
Principal, Arendt Chambers
I am a lawyer based in Vancouver, Canada, and a member of the Bar of British Columbia and the International Bar Association. I hold law degrees from the University of British Columbia and the University of Oxford.
My legal practice spans domestic criminal defence, international prosecution, and pro bono advocacy in conflict and post-conflict settings, from Vancouver to The Hague and from Kabul to Kinshasa. I have clerked at international and domestic courts, published in leading legal journals with Cambridge and Oxford University Presses, and contributed commentary to top legal news outlets. I enjoy an established and active presence in the fields of international human rights and global justice.
I founded Arendt Chambers because victims of rights violations deserve exceptional legal representation. In my conversations with judges, UN Committee members, and Special Rapporteurs, I often hear the same frustration: too many claims fail not for lack of merit, but because the legal representation was inadequate.
International human rights law and international justice are not side-projects. They are complex, evolving fields that demand deep expertise and practical experience.
At Arendt Chambers, this work is all that we do. I take your rights — and your case — personally.
